“Ring out for Climate”: Van den Berg clocktower will chime on Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. for UN Summit

SUNY New Paltz is joining a global call to action to highlight the importance of the 26th annual United Nations Summit on Climate Change, a gathering of representatives from 197 countries to confront the grave threat posed by global climate change and ecological destruction.

At 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30 – the day before the Summit – New Paltz’s van den Berg Hall Clocktower will ring out as part of a worldwide moment of noisemaking to draw attention to the urgency of immediate, coordinated, global action to address the grave threat posed by climate change and ecological destruction.

Across New Paltz and around the world, participating individuals and organizations will ring bells, play instruments, raise their voices and bang pots & pans as part of the “Ring out for Climate” action.

In our community, this effort is coordinated by organizations including the New Paltz Climate Action Coalition and Interfaith Climate Council.

More information about SUNY New Paltz’s work toward carbon neutrality and campus sustainability are detailed in President Christian’s Oct. 25, 2021, message in solidarity with the UN Summit on Climate Change.
