What is a Career Community?
Welcome to GVSU Career Communities! Our Career Communities are a way for you to connect with fellow students, faculty, career advisors, employers and career content related to specific industry types. Communities provide information, opportunities for exploration, and connections related to your areas of interest. The world of work is not always a direct connection from your major to a specific job and career communities are a great way to connect with resources, events and communication directly related to the industries you are interested in.
(A note for alums: you must have an account created in Handshake in order to join a career community)
Why should you join a Career Community?
We encourage you to explore the career community options and we would recommend joining as many as you'd like. By joining a career community you will receive direct communication regarding job & internship postings, events, and specific resources directly related to the industry area you are interested in.
For example, if you are a biology major but hope to apply to medical school, you might choose the Healthcare community, but also the Science and Research community to learn about other options with your degree. You can change and adjust your career community subscriptions anytime you'd like in Handshake.
