The College of Health Sciences has a number of activities and events planned this spring. Highlights include:
The College of Health Sciences is holding two sessions for faculty and staff with guest speaker Dr. Jan Harris from the Department of English and Modern Languages. She facilitated the first session on "Belonging in the College of Health Sciences" in February, referencing the book "The Power of Bridging" by john a. powell. The next session will be in April.
The first Interprofessional Education (IPE) Fair will take place April 4. Students from health sciences, social work, and mental health programs will rotate through interactive booths featuring AI in healthcare, clinical case presentations, scope of practice discussions, clinical problem-solving escape room, and hands-on health assessments. This collaborative event promotes cross-disciplinary teamwork and professional understanding among healthcare students.
The Department of Kinesiology Pre-PT/OT Club met in February with faculty club chairs Rebecca Claypool and Libby McCurley. Also meeting in February is the Pre-Physicians Assistant Club & Pre-Med Club. Hayden Hall, a Lipscomb alum and medical student, will lead a skills lab along with several other guest medical students.
In addition, the Lipscomb Student Nurses Association, the Nursing Christian Fellowship, the Kinesiology Club meet regularly throughout the semester. The School of Nursing also hosts a breakout chapel that meets every Wednesday to study scripture with an emphasis on application for nurses.
