Message from the Dean's Office
As we begin a new calendar year, we want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped us have an incredible 2023 - with an exciting 2024 ahead. Last year was marked by significant changes and achievements that are all due to your unwavering commitment to our students, patients, community, and science.
The transition of Tulane Medical Center to East Jefferson Hospital is happening in January 2024, and will be a testament to our collaborative efforts in academic medicine. There are challenges and stress that come with this transition, but we hope you all recognize that it also opens doors to incredibly transformational opportunities.
To keep everyone updated, we have launched an EJ Transition website. This will be a hub for regular updates and information about our progress and future plans as we work to keep our community informed and connected about the relocation. There is also a special separate website if you need information about the transition of clinical trials, which you can access by logging in with your Tulane credentials.
While many of us will move our clinical “house” out of TMC into EJGH, UMC, or other locations in January 2024, The Tulane Doctors/Tulane Medicine brands aren’t going anywhere – we are going EVERYWHERE!
Just as at our founding in 1834, we are on blazing an audacious path forward and will set a new standard for academic medical excellence and innovation. We will work hard to maintain the Tulane Medicine and Tulane Doctors brands and encourage everyone to wear your Tulane white coats, badge holders, pins, etc. when working on campus OR in any of our many clinical sites.
Amidst these changes, there is an equal excitement about the upcoming renovations to Hutchinson, Charity Hospital, and the former TMC Building. These developments will create much-needed space for research and education. The space is crucial for the launch of our new nursing program. You may have also noticed new building lighting, an early step in the enhancement of the aesthetics of our environment downtown.
Your dedication and resilience are truly the driving force behind our ongoing success.
Below follows a summary of some of the most recent SoM activities and news:

Clinical Services - Transition
- Many changes are coming in the location of clinical services: however, Tulane Medicine still reflects outstanding, cutting-edge care of patients in our community as well as far beyond
- Locations of clinical services will vary, and a list of where they are located can be found on TulaneDoctors.com. Most services will transition to the East Jefferson Campus. The Downtown Tulane ED will remain open in addition to a Multispecialty clinic, Urology clinic, Ob-Gyn Downtown clinic and possibly a few others
- Orthopedics and Obstetrics & Gynecology remain at Tulane Lakeside
- Whenever possible, please refer your patients to another Tulane provider. Plans are underway to make this process easier and details will be announced shortly
- Maintaining our clinical services and keeping our patients happy is something we each contribute to. Please talk with your patients about the transitions
- Remember change can be stressful – so have more patience with your clinic and hospital team, your patients, your colleagues, and of course, yourself
