Lyn Redington named vice president for student affairs

Ohio University President Dr. Hugh Sherman has named Dr. Lyn Redington as the University’s vice president for student affairs, effective Feb. 9, 2023.

Redington, who was named OHIO’s interim vice president for student affairs on Jan. 9, 2023, is an experienced leader who has previously served in multiple roles in higher education spanning over 30 years. Before joining Ohio University, Redington most recently served as the vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Idaho State University.

“I am thrilled that Lyn has agreed to serve as our permanent vice president for student affairs,” President Sherman said. “During her time at OHIO, she has demonstrated a commitment to student success, focus on long-term financial stability, and dedication to leading an inclusive and collaborative division. I am confident that she will be an outstanding leader for our Division of Student Affairs in the years ahead.”

Redington has equally demonstrated her commitment to student success and an ability to foster a culture of care based on concern for others throughout her career. In addition to her time at Idaho State University, Redington also served as the assistant vice president and dean of students at the University of Iowa and director of residence life at the University of Northern Iowa. She holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy studies, a master’s degree in professional studies in higher education, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology, all from Iowa State University.

“Without exception, my colleagues in the Division of Student Affairs are focused on students and their success. I am inspired by the work and the impact accomplished every day, and I am honored to be a permanent part of this dynamic team,” Redington said. “Our campuses are filled with talented and driven students and dedicated faculty and staff. I look forward to working with the entire Ohio University community to develop new ways to enhance the student experience and support our University communities.”
