DEP Intern - Central Office, Chesapeake Bay Restoration Division (College)

In this position, you will be responsible for supporting public outreach and communication efforts concerning the Chesapeake Bay, collaborating with various departments to advance key initiatives, and achieving the objectives of the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) established by the EPA. The role necessitates a solid grasp of web-based processes, meticulous attention to detail, and proficient communication and writing abilities. Additionally, it entails working in partnership with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), other state agencies, local governments, and county conservation districts to facilitate effective outreach and communication about Pennsylvania's regulatory obligations and the engagement of local sector partners in the creation and execution of the Watershed Implementation Plan.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

• Full-time internship that will last from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on a schedule that aligns with the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

• Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor’s degree, or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:
  • Environmental Science
  • Environmental Resource Management
  • Environmental Planning
• An approved major course of study at an accredited college or university
• Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
• Freshman year completed
• Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university

• This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
