Drop Off/Pick Up Reminders: Safety First

A reminder, for everyone's safety, that being dropped off or picked up in the WHS Bus Zone is not allowed.  It's imperative that this area remains clear for school bus drop off and pick up only. Bus drivers cannot see students that run across the bus zone in front of them to get into or exit a car.

Additionally, students must not cross 195th Street NE at the Bus Zone entrance. There is not a crosswalk at this location. Students should not be dropped off or picked up alongside 195th Street NE.

For drop off/pick up, please use the designated Main Office Drop-Off Loop.

Furthermore, for students that have permission to park in the 600 Building Lot, extreme caution must be used when leaving campus to not dart out of the lot in front of incoming school buses.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this important safety matter.

If you should have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Bloomquist or Mr. Dillman.

FAFSA/WASFA Information

If you are planning to pursue a certificate program, job training, apprenticeships, or college (2-year, 4-year, trade school, technical school etc.) after high school, they may qualify for financial aid! Even if you think your family may make too much, please plan to apply for financial aid through the FAFSA or WAFSA.

The FAFSA is currently in their "soft launch" phase. Do not panic if the site is down. This is a new process for everyone this year and colleges will have to accommodate this new timeline.

Remember, you can also apply for the WASFA account on the Washington Student Achievement Council website if you’re ineligible to use FAFSA (Take a questionnaire on the link to see if the WASFA is a good fit for you).

Remember to utilize all the resources here to help you fill out the FAFSA:

Reach out to your counselor if you have any questions! It is a confusing process but we can get through this together!

Falcon Food Pantry

The Special Ed Department and WHS are proud to announce the opening of the Falcon Food Pantry on site here in Room 617!  The Falcon Food Pantry is a food bank available to any student and/or family who could benefit from getting some extra, free resources. This is a great new opportunity here on our campus! We are relying on community support to get it up and running and help make it a success!  Food donations will be accepted throughout the school year in the Food Pantry box in the Main Office or in Room 617. Reach out to Ms. Roy if you should have any questions. A wish list of items is posted on the website homepage under News & Events. Thank you for your support!

“I don’t HAVE to mask any more, but should I?”

Remain home until symptoms are improving.
Stay home if you have a fever.
Remain home for 24 hours AFTER the fever has passed.

Celebrations

Battle of the Books Results!

On Wednesday, April 17th teams from four NSD high schools gathered for the District’s 4th annual High School Battle of the Books. Students formed their own teams of 2-4 people and among them read all ten of this year’s Evergreen Teen Book Award nominees, practiced answering questions about the books, and then gathered at North Creek High School to battle it out and see which team knew the books the best. Woodinville had two teams compete. Our top team, Team Mars, placed fourth, while scoring only three points off the perfect score. Most importantly these students spent time with each other talking about the books they read. Students interested in competing next year, can start now reading the 2024-2025 Evergreen Nominees. Participating students were: Ria Byri, Parisa Emam, Claire Fifer, Maithili Jha, Emily Mead, Charlotte Nicolas, Sasha Olson, and Aveen Thoohan.

WHS Robotics Wins at World Championship!

Over the weekend of April 19, our Robotics team competed at the FIRST Robotics World Championships in Houston Texas which hosted teams from over 100 countries and 40,000 attendees. They competed in the Galileo division and finished 68th overall in our division and 440th overall out of 600 teams. Our team was honored to receive the Rookie Inspiration Award for their work in the community to support STEM activities.

The award is described as: Celebrates a rookie team’s outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering and engineers, both within their school, as well as in their community.

  • Effectiveness and inventiveness of the team’s efforts to recruit students to engineering.
  • Extent and effectiveness of the team’s community outreach efforts.
  • A commitment to science and technology education among the team.
  • Ability to communicate understanding of the FIRST mission at the competition and away from it.

Here's what the judges had to say about the team:

With a focus on outreach and advocacy, this rookie team demonstrated they are already off to a fast start. From creating an organization focused on upholding women in STEM to their work creating new FIRST teams, they are focused on the impact that FIRST can have on students. They have demonstrated the success of their LADDER program to help students grow skills through FLL, FTC, and FRC. This team embraced the A in STEAM with their incredible pit display and student-made plush dinosaurs.

The following students made it possible to compete at this level:

Elijah Yan, Katelyn Faulhaber, Kevin Check, Neha Modi, Andrea Yandell, Aadi Shah, Grey Kitzan, Tucker Taplett, Davis Tonkin, Elizabeth Stevenson, Cindy Liang, Krish Doshi, Aviel Wood, Andrew Wood, Dasha Arkhipova, Joy Song, Kris Dimitrov, Ethan Tonkin, Nicholas Chang, Romi Bar-Caspi, Skylar Bogner, and Woojin Kim

Thank you for supporting our students through this amazing experience!

WHS Accreditation

Woodinville High School participated in the Washington State Accreditation process in the 2022-23 school year.

  • This is a voluntary process that takes place every 6 years, where we demonstrate that here at WHS we provide our students with a high quality and rigorous education.
  • Accreditation is an inquiry-based process, tightly aligned to our Strategic Action Plan, and the work we do at WHS.
  • Accreditation is not only an internal review of how we are doing in meeting our goals, but also an external review process where we share our work and improvement plan with both a site evaluation review team and a state level review panel.

We are pleased to announce WHS was accredited for another 6 years, with our school noted as exceptional.
