SINGLES - Svitolina Seals Historic Third Premier 5 Title In Toronto
Elina Svitolina conquers Caroline Wozniacki in their second Premier 5 final of the season, winning the last eight games of their final on Sunday to take home her first title at the Rogers Cup in Toronto.
No.5 seed Elina Svitolina won her WTA-leading fifth title of 2017 on Sunday, knocking out former WTA World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki, 6-4, 6-0, to win the Rogers Cup.
"I need some time still to really realize, because I had so many matches for the last two days and it's been really, really tough physically," the Ukrainian said after the match. "Today was very hot, so I've been really struggling. I'm just very happy that it's finished - and with a title, it's even more special."
Svitolina won the last eight games of the match from 4-4 in the first set to raise her third Premier 5 trophy of the season, and fifth overall.
The Ukrainian becomes the first player to ever win three Premier 5 titles in a season after the tier of events was introduced in 2009. She previously raised the trophies in Dubai and Rome, to go along with International-level titles in Taipei and Istanbul.

DOUBLES - Makarova/Vesnina Rise To Race No.1 With Toronto Final
Wimbledon champions Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina reached the final at the Rogers Cup on Saturday, rising to No.1 in the Porsche Race to Singapore in the process.
Defending champions Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina returned to the final at the Rogers Cup on Saturday with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Anastasia Rodionova and Nadiia Kichenok, and made a big move in the Porsche Race to Singapore in the process.
With the win, the Russians will sit atop the standings in the Porsche Race to Singapore on Monday. They displace Martina Hingis and Chan Yung-jan, winners of five WTA titles this season, who lost in the quarterfinals in Toronto to Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Kveta Peschke.
The top seeds won the last nine games of the match, which was interrupted several times due to rain - and moved from Centre Court to Grandstand over the course of the match.

SINGLES - Zverev Claims Second Masters 1000 Crown In Montreal
German rides dominant serving display for title.
There is a new champion at the Coupe Rogers and his name is Alexander Zverev. The #NextGenATP German was in a relentless rhythm throughout the final in Montreal and would take the title 6-3, 6-4 over Roger Federer.
Zverev claimed his second ATP World Tour Masters 1000 trophy, adding to his maiden title in Rome (d. Djokovic) earlier this year. He became the first player outside the Big Four to win multiple Masters 1000 titles in a season since David Nalbandian in 2007.
Zverev, who secured his place in the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan with a semi-final win over Denis Shapovalov, was dominant in all facets on Sunday. The German struck his serve with aggressive alacrity and his powerful groundstrokes opened the court for finishing blows. He also moves to third in the Emirates ATP Race To London, with his chances of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals receiving a significant boost.
The 20 year old added a tour-leading fifth ATP World Tour title of the season, joining Federer atop the leaderboard. In addition to his victory in Rome, he previously prevailed in Marseille, Munich and last week in Washington.

DOUBLES - Herbert / Mahut Master Montreal For Ninth Team Title
French duo claim fifth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crown.
They say that Montreal is the Paris of North America, and French duo Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut certainly made it their home this week.
Herbert and Mahut claimed their ninth title together, edging Rohan Bopanna and Ivan Dodig 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 on Sunday at the Coupe Rogers. The fifth seeds improved to 20-8 this season after one hour and 22 minutes, firing four aces and notching 88 per cent of first serve points.
It was the fifth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crown for the French duo, all coming at different tournaments. Last year, they prevailed in Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo, and earlier this year they lifted the trophy in Rome.
"It was a hard match against a really good team," said Herbert. "We managed to win the first, they played really well in the second and we had a good level in the Match Tie-break.
"When I was younger, I came here with dreams and goals and to be able to win such big titles is a dream come true for me. My 10th title is great and I hope I'll have many more with Nico."

Tournament abbreviations

WC
= wildcard (given by the tournament to a player that could not get in on their ranking, or did not enter in time.

PR = protected ranking. This is used when a player has been out for a certain period of time due to injury (I think it's at least 6 months) and their ranking slips down to where they wouldn't get in on their current ranking.

Q = Qualifier.

A = Alternate. Used in qualifying when a player withdraws before their first match. Also used in main draw if there was no qualifying draw and the draw was full before the player withdrew.

LL = Lucky loser. A player that loses in qualifying (usually the final round unless none of the final round losers sign the lucky loser list) and gets into main draw when a main draw player withdraws before their first match.

SE = Special exempt. A player who signed into qualifying of a tournament, but was still playing in the previous week's tournament at the time the qualifying draw was done. This player can get a special exempt into the main draw the following week.
