Dear Community,

Facilities Management (FM) have been working closely with the Coronavirus Taskforce and the Coronavirus Crisis Management Team (CCMT) to evaluate all the services being provided by our service contractors at KAUST.  Following recent recommendations of social distancing, FM will now be running reduced services effective March 16, 2020 until the end of the month. The following services will be provided:

Maintenance:

From March 16, Residential Facility Maintenance and Academic and Administrate Facility Maintenance will only respond to high and near high priority tickets.  Such tickets will include:

  • Emergency response such as Active Fire and 911 calls
  • Power outages
  • Water leaks
  • Boiler leaks
  • Air conditioning faults
  • Refrigerator faults

Janitorial and Laundry Services:

Effective immediately janitorial services will increase the cleaning frequency of all health and hygiene areas such as: sanitizing doors, door handles, elevator buttons, conference room furniture, public washrooms, break rooms, etc. Additional measures are being taken to ensure areas of high usage are continually well cleaned.

Unfortunately, it has been necessary to cancel all paid services for housekeeping and babysitting in effort to limit the number of people coming into KAUST and to allow us to focus on the public wide janitorial services.

Laundry services will continue to operate for all commercial and residential users.

Horticulture/Pest Control/Waste Management Services:

Horticulture activities will be reduced to cleaning of exterior public areas, monitoring the irrigation system and debris removal.

Unfortunately it has been necessary to cancel all paid horticulture services for backyards in order to limit the number of people entering KAUST.

There will be no change to pest control activities.

All trash collection will continue as normal operations.

In addition to the above, the community will expect to see all service provider staff wearing gloves and face mask while attending to tickets and repairs. Additional measures have been and will continue to be in place within the Service Provider accommodations to ensure consistency with KAUST’s Coronovirus Taskforce and the Cononavirus Crisis Management Team (CCMT)  recommendations.

As all non-essential maintenance work will be placed on hold or scheduled with a delayed response, we ask all community members for their patience and understanding during this time, thank you.
