Q: What was your first job, and was there a lesson you learned there that you still use today?

A: I began my illustrious career as a cashier and stocker at a school supply company in Corpus Christi, TX. Lessons learned: smiles make customers feel better, and sarcasm makes coworkers feel better… Well, perhaps the sarcasm only helps me, but I like to think my coworkers find it entertaining as well.

Q: What has been a favorite memory or experience in your banking career?

A: When I was offered the position of Compliance Officer at American Pride Bank. It was an extremely encouraging affirmation of my professional efforts to pursue the well-being of those I serve.

Q: What impact did attending the GBA Advanced Compliance School have on you?

A: The Advanced Compliance School was very useful in putting together the complete picture of a compliance management system. I would highly recommend it, for both the content and the camaraderie.

Q: If you weren’t working in banking, what would you be doing instead, or what would your life be like?

A: Church ministry. My family and I are very blessed by our church and love to serve there.

Q: What might someone be surprised to know about you?

A: I love to read books written from perspectives I disagree with, as I feel I often learn the most by hearing from those most unlike me in their worldview.
