HOUSE VOTES ON CONTINUING RESOLUTION, SENATE TO VOTE THIS AFTERNOON
This morning, the House voted to implement another continuing resolution (CR) that would fund the government through November 21st. Included in the measure: releasing D.C.’s locally funded budget and providing new security funding, including $30 million for lawmakers and $58 million for executive branch and Supreme Court protection, amid rising concerns about political violence. The 217-212 vote went almost along party lines, though the Democrats unveiled their own stopgap measure earlier this week. The Senate took procedural votes on both parties' proposals this afternoon, with neither passing the 60-vote threshold. At the time of this writing, another Senate vote has not yet been scheduled. As always, the Office of Government Relations (OGR) will continue to monitor congressional activity on the CR, and will provide updates as needed.
