Meet the Annual Fund Chairs |
Dear Logan Families,
The new year started with a flurry of activity and excitement for us! Hari, who started AS this year, just returned from their Fall EE trip to New Mexico with Kelly and Cynthia’s class, and our daughter Mae is embracing her leadership role as a second-year in Lower IS. We’re always so grateful to see our children connect with a supportive learning community of teachers, friends, and families. We hope that your summers allowed time for joy and exploration and that the transition (or entry!) back to school is full of energy and renewal.
We are excited to chair the 2022-2023 Annual Fund Committee, as Logan has meant the world to our family. This school and community have embraced our children fully as they ask questions about the universe, the microcosm, and most importantly, themselves and their identities. People are what make Logan special. Logan is full of adults and children who share a creative spirit and love of learning that both supports and challenges us to ask the important and difficult questions, and critically, to listen to alternative perspectives.
A Logan education is priceless. As parents, the chance for our children to learn in this remarkable community feels like the best gift we could possibly give them. You may be surprised to learn that tuition does not fully cover the cost of a Logan education. The Annual Fund does the heavy lifting by “bridging the gap” between tuition and the actual cost of a Logan education. This year, that difference is $2,500 per student. This additional support enables us to retain our incredible teachers and staff and provides opportunities for growth and innovative learning strategies for our amazing students.
We have two important goals for the Annual Fund this year:
1) To raise $284,900 2) 100% participation from all Logan families
One-hundred-percent participation is not just an aspirational goal; it sends a message that we are a community who believes in our school. Any amount that is appropriate and meaningful for your family is welcomed with gratitude. If you are able, please consider a gift of $2,500 or more. Your gift - of any amount - shows that our community is full of dedicated supporters and is a critical demonstration of parental commitment whenever the school applies for foundation or corporate grants.
You’ll be hearing from us and our wonderful committee of parent volunteers between now and Colorado Gives Day on December 6th. In the meantime, welcome back to campus and community!
With gratitude,
Genery Booster & Geoff Shamos

Meet New & Returning Members of Our Mental Health Support Team! |
Simone Castelino - Counseling Intern At Logan Thursdays & Fridays
Hi! I’m Simone Castelino, and I am an Intern at The Logan School and Knippenberg, Patterson, Langley, & Associates (KPLA). I am also a June 2023 Masters candidate in the Counseling, Psychology, Clinical Mental Health program at the University of Denver. I am an international student from India, where I worked as a teacher/facilitator of History and the English language and taught middle school and high school. It has been a little over a year since my move here and I’ve made the most of my weekends so far, exploring and camping in the mountains. As a learner, I am always looking for opportunities to discover and grow. I’m thrilled to be a part of The Logan School and I’m looking forward to embracing this venture.

Sarah Gemmell - Counseling Intern At Logan Mondays & Wednesdays
I am Sarah Gemmell (Sarah G) and I am an Intern through Knippenberg, Patterson, Langley, & Associates (KPLA), The Logan School, and M.A. Candidate for Clinical Mental Health at University of Colorado Denver. I am hoping to graduate in May 2023 (yay!) and will go on to complete licensure for an LPC. I am originally from Arizona and completed my Bachelor’s degree in Education from Northern Arizona University. I moved to Denver in 2015 with my now husband and our dog Dozer. I was a previous teacher and taught Kindergarten and First Grade in Parker, CO. I love Denver and everything Colorado has to offer with skiing, camping, hiking, and being in nature! We currently live downtown and have become big foodies and are always looking for a new spot to try! I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone, the kiddos, and helping/learning in any way that I can!

Sara Knickerbocker - School Psychologist At Logan Wednesdays
Hi! My name is Dr. Sara Knickerbocker, and I am a licensed psychologist who loves to support social-emotional development of children and adults. Over the past 20 years, I have worked at independent schools in the Denver Metro area, at an educational non-profit and in private practice. I earned my Ph.D. in School Psychology at the University of Northern Colorado where I focused on school and family partnerships, supporting students with ADHD, and assessment. My favorite part about my job at Logan is that I get to read books, play games, color and talk with kids/parents/teachers to help Logan students learn and grow in school and in life. When I am not at Logan, I consult with educators to develop emotional well-being and communication/conflict resolution skills. I love to spend my free time watching my son play lacrosse, walking my dog, or cooking up something using my CSA produce.
