Briar Cliff COVID-19 Refund Update
Hello Chargers,
Spring 2020 brought challenging, unprecedented times to the world. We appreciate your flexibility, tenacity, and understanding during this pandemic.
With respect to previously-discussed refunds, in order to qualify for a refund, a student must be enrolled as a full-time, in-person student at Briar Cliff University.
University leadership has reviewed the federal requirements of the CARES Act distribution as well as Briar Cliff Room/Board refund opportunities. To ensure we meet requirements and regulations, the following calculations have been used to determine your refund.
- If you meet the CARES Act criteria (Title IV eligible), you will be eligible for a minimum refund of $500.
- If you are also eligible for Pell Grant, you will receive an additional minimum refund of $400.
- Residential students who moved away from campus on or before March 13 may be eligible for an additional Room/Board refund.
Students eligible for either of the first two refunds listed above will receive these refunds as a direct deposit to their personal bank account.
The third refund is your Room/Board refund. This refund will be applied to your Briar Cliff student account if you have a remaining balance. For accounts paid in full, the refund will be direct deposited to your personal bank account.
Please ensure your personal bank account information is accurate within Charger Stable. You can anticipate your refunds to be distributed by May 15.
If you are eligible for any refunds, by accepting this money, you are indicating you experienced financial disruption or hardship due to COVID-19 in order to continue your education. (Eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance may include food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and childcare.)
Be safe and God bless.
