ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) — Police say three people are dead, including a toddler, after a shooting Thursday inside a Publix store in Florida.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said the shooter is among those dead, which include an adult male, adult female and a child. The names and ages of the victims have not been released.

WPEC reporter Andrew Lofholm learned the toddler was going to turn 2 years old next month.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff's office said authorities received the first call about the shooting at around 11:40 a.m. The first deputies on scene found the three people dead in the store.

Investigators are gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and reviewing video to determine what led up to the shooting. Police say it's possible the three people knew each other.

Publix issued a statement on the shooting, which reads, in part:

"Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by this tragedy. We are cooperating with the local law enforcement."

Palm Beach County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay asked for thoughts and prayers for the victims.

Parkland parent Fred Guttenberg responded to the shooting on Twitter, saying, in part, "To every Senator who believes protecting the filibuster is more important than protecting the American family, we will replace you."
