Rochester, N.Y. - Just days after a violent night in Rochester left two dead and three hurt - and just hours before another homicide on the city's west side - Mayor Lovely Warren, members of the Rochester Police Department and faith leaders gathered in a push to end the violence.

A "Clergy on Patrol" event was held in the Hayward Avenue neighborhood. The purpose of the events is to have officials engage with members of their community.

The gathering held added importance for those that took part Monday. Last week, five people were shot in the City of Rochester in a four-hour span; two of those individuals died.

Pastor Otis Potter says it is incumbent on him and other members of the community to help stop violence in the area.

"It's not easy, but it's a road we have to take and a journey that we have to do," he said. "And the only way to do it, we have to step out into the community and let people know that we know what's going on, we are aware of the situation, we are fighting and we are struggling to help our young people, the young generation."
