Celeste Ng:
Celeste Ng was born on July 30, 1980 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She studied English at Harvard University and got her graduate degree at the University of Michigan. Her first novel, “Everything I Never Told You,” was released in 2014 and received much praise from critics and the Amazon Best Book Award. Her 2017 novel, “Little Fires Everywhere,” was made into a TV mini-series, released in 2020. She has also written many short stories and essays. She taught writing at the University of Michigan and edited blogs at the Fiction Writers Review for three years.
Maxine Hong Kingston:
Maxine Hong Kingston was born in Stockton, California on October 27, 1940. She is a professor emerita at UC Berkeley, which is also her alma mater. She has mainly written novels in both the fiction and the non-fiction genres. Some of her most well known works are “The Woman Warrior,” “The Fifth Book of Peace,” “Tripmaster Monkey,” and “China Man.” Her writing has also earned her many national acclaims, including the National Book Critics Circle Award, the National Book Award, the National Medal of Arts, and the National Humanities Medal.
