VUMC Faculty & Physician Wellness Program launches "When Clinicians Struggle: Finding Support at VUMC"

VUMC Faculty & Physician Wellness Program has launched When Clinicians Struggle: Finding Support at VUMC, a Quiz Time module that will equip clinicians to recognize well-being needs in themselves and in their colleagues, as well as ensuring they know how to find and utilize support resources available through the Faculty & Physician Wellness Program.

“The Quiz Time project was initiated by VUMC department chairs who are interested in helping VUMC clinicians feel empowered to care for their own well-being,” said Beth Ann Yakes, MD, associate director of VWell Physician Support. “It can be challenging for clinicians to recognize wellness needs in themselves and colleagues, and when recognized, they may be uncertain how to access resources available through the FPWP.”

The Faculty and Physician Wellness Program (FPWP) offers robust services to VUMC faculty and physicians that include counseling, coaching, assessment and treatment plans.

Registration for the Quiz Time module begins Sept. 1 at this link, and the module will go live on Sept. 13.

Elective participation in Quiz Time is available to all credentialed clinicians at VUMC, and CME credit is available for applicable learners who engage in at least 80% of the questions.  When participants sign up to be a part of this module, they may choose whether these daily questions will be delivered via email or text message.

Recognizing the time constraints of practicing faculty and clinicians, Quiz Time provides just-in-time learning by delivering daily quiz-items to your email or mobile device. Immediate feedback on the multiple-choice question as well as accompanying rationales, implications for practice and references will equip participants with the knowledge they need to help sustain their own personal well-being.

“While not all faculty and physicians at VUMC may currently be experiencing well-being needs that could benefit from services at the FPWP, it is likely that all clinicians know at least one colleague who might be in need,” said Jim Kendall, LCSW, CEAP, Manager, Work/Life Connections-EAP.  “The Quiz Time module will provide clinicians valuable information on how to recognize well-being needs not just in themselves, but also in their colleagues.”

By ensuring that faculty and physicians know how to find, explain and utilize the resources available through the FPWP program, individuals at VUMC will be empowered to provide peer-support to their colleagues in need.
