Research: I am working on the calibration of a Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) prototype using a Fisk grown SrI2:Eu2+ scintillator crystal coupled to a silicon photomultiplier to image bones. This detector type has the potential to achieve more sensitive and lower cost of Bone Mineral Density (BMD) measurements. Additionally, optimizing sensor fabrication enables low power and light weight sensor applications for portable use.
