  • Above normal warmth is forecast across the Bay Area this week. The potential for heat related illnesses increases, especially on Thu & Fri. Never leave children or pets in hot vehicles. Take frequent breaks in the shade if working outside and stay hydrated

  • With elevated temperatures this week, prioritize your health by drinking water and cooling down right away if you:
    - Feel tired, weak, or dizzy
    - Have a headache or muscle cramps
    - Are sweating heavily
    - Feel faint
    - Look pale

  • Stay safe in the heat: Don’t leave kids, pets, or older adults in locked cars with the windows closed. Outside temperatures of 80 degrees can rise to 99 degrees inside a locked car in just 10 minutes & 123 degrees after an hour.

  • Our windows can be powerful natural air conditioners, but as temperatures rise and we open windows more than usual, this increases the risk of falls for young children. If possible, install safety gates on open windows, and always keep an eye on young children.
