Doreen Simonsen has been the Humanities & Fine Arts Librarian at Willamette University since 2001, and in 2015 she became the library's Rare Books Librarian, too. She developed and co-taught courses, Digital Humanities Workshop: Voyages of Discovery in the Vault and Research in the Information Age, and she coordinates Library Instruction for Willamette University's College Colloquium program. She is the liaison or subject librarian for the following areas:

In her free time, she loves to watch Scandinavian films and television series while doing counted cross-stitch, all with a good cup of coffee. When traveling, she always goes to Art Museums, and going to bookstores has filled her house with perhaps too many books. She enjoys cooking Cajun and Creole dishes, like Gumbo and Shrimp Remoulade, as well as Danish specialties like Frikadeller, Ris à l'Amande, and open-faced sandwiches---but never combines the two cuisines. She is fluent in Danish and German, has a fair command of French, and welcomes any opportunity to speak these languages.
