JUST AFTER 11. IT STARTED WHEN BENTONVILLE POLICE RECEIVED A CALL OF A ROBBERY I PROGRESS HERE AT THE KUM AND GO. THIS IS JUST TWO BLOCKS AWAY FROM WHERE DOMINIK MATT DIED. ACCORDING TO THE ARKANSAS STATE POLICE , A BENTONVILLE OFFICER WAS NEAR GREEENHOUSE ROAD AND SW BRIAR CREEK AVENUE SEARCHING FOR THE SUSPECT IN AN ATTEMPTED ROBBERY. AUTHORITIES SAY THE OFFICER APPROACHED MATT AND THEY S MATT QUOTE "ALLEGEDLY BRANDISHED A HAND- GUN DURING THE ENCOUNTER." THAT'S WHEN THE BENTONVILLE OFFICER SHOT MATT. OTHER OFFICERS RESPONDED. According to Arkansas State Police (ASP), Dominick Matt, 17, of Bentonville was shot, killed by a Bentonville police officer Friday evening.

According to Arkansas State Police (ASP), Dominick Matt, 17, of Bentonville was shot, killed by a Bentonville police officer Friday evening.Saturday morning, ASP released a press release that said the shooting is now under investigation.The press release said the officer was in the area of Greenhouse Road and SW Briar Creek Avenue searching for a suspect involved in the attempted robbery at a nearby Kum and Go gas station.ASP said, at 11:23 p.m. Matt was seen walking in the area of the store and was approached by the officer. The release said Matt allegedly brandished a handgun, leading the officer to shoot Matt. In the release, police say an officer located the accused robber near Greenhouse Road, based on a description of the person provided by the store clerk."Within seconds of the officer's contact with the suspect, the officer reported that shots had been fired and the suspect was 'down'," the release said.The suspect died on the scene, and the officer was not injured.Bentonville police said Arkansas State Police were contacted at about 12:17 AM on December 7 and requested that troopers conduct the investigation into the reported robbery and subsequent shooting.The incident is under investigation by the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division.
