A 24-year-old Knoxville woman found shot to death outside a Magnolia Avenue convenience store Thursday night was the victim of a domestic assault reported at the same business less than a month ago, according court records.

The man charged in the earlier attack, however, already was in jail at the time of the fatal shooting.

The victim, identified as Aseal Iysheh, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, reported at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of BJ's Food Mart, 2310 E. Magnolia Ave., according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Knoxville police are investigating a shooting that killed one woman outside BJ's Food Mart, 2310 E. Magnolia Ave., on Thursday, June 11, 2020.

Authorities believe Iysheh was shot during an argument with a man she knew, who then ran from the scene. A search of the surrounding area, including attempts to track the shooter with a police dog, were unsuccessful.

Police have yet to release any information about the shooting suspect.

Iysheh previously told police she was attacked outside BJ's on May 27. Aron Tyron Johnson, 44, who is identified in arrest warrants as her boyfriend, is charged with domestic assault in that case.

Johnson was arrested June 4 in connection with the assault. He has remained in custody at the Knox County Detention Facility since, a corrections officer confirmed Friday.

Iysheh was set to appear at a court hearing on Johnson's domestic assault charge Tuesday.
