Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to offer a number of scholarships to students seeking higher education.

Overview of the Lynn Vermeer Youth Development Scholarship

Applications open September 1 - January 15

The Lynn Vermeer Youth Development Scholarship was created to support youth development and higher education – both of which Mr. Vermeer was deeply passionate. Lynn Vermeer was the father of former UnityPoint Health President and CEO, Kevin Vermeer.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Be an employee or child or grandchild of a UnityPoint Health – Trinity employee;
  • Be 25 years old or younger in the awarding year of the scholarship;
  • Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4-point scale at the time of application or renewal;
  • Be a high school senior or graduate who plans to enroll or who is already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college, university, or vocational-technical school or health-related program or degree;
  • Must live within 75 miles of Illinois/Iowa Quad Cities area; and
  • Preference given to applicants with a demonstrated financial need or other extraordinary circumstances

Overview of the Eduardo Ricaurte Behavioral Health Scholarship

Applications open September 1 - January 15

The Eduardo Ricaurte Behavioral Health Scholarship was created to support Trinity Regional Health System employees or children and grandchildren of employees pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in the field of behavioral health. One scholarship will be awarded annually.

Applicant Criteria for Employee:

  • Be a full-time employee of Trinity Regional Health System for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4-point scale at the time of application or renewal. 
  • Be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university with a declared major in one of the behavioral health sciences or with the desire and intent to work in a behavioral health field. 
  • Must live in the Illinois/Iowa Quad Cities area which is defined as 75 miles of 2701 17th St. Rock Island, IL 61201 (known as the UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island Campus).

Applicant Criteria for Child or Grandchild of Employee: 

  • Be a child or grandchild of a Trinity Regional Health System Employee.
  • Not be older than 25 years of age in the awarding year of the scholarship.
  • Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4-point scale at the time of application or renewal.
  • Be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university with a declared major in one of the behavioral health sciences or with the desire and intent to work in a behavioral health field. 
  • Must live in the Illinois/Iowa Quad Cities area which is defined as 75 miles of 2701 17th St. Rock Island, IL 61201 (known as the UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island Campus).

Overview of the Kenneth D. Moburg Educational Scholarship

Applications open September 1 - January 15

This monetary award has been established to provide assistance to a UnityPoint Health – Trinity team member's child pursuing a degree in a healthcare profession that requires an Associate's Degree or more. This award was established in honor of the late Mr. Kenneth D. Moburg, CEO of the former Moline Lutheran Hospital. Award amounts range from $500 - $2,000.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Be 25 years old or younger;
  • Be a child of an employee or retiree who has been employed with UnityPoint Health – Trinity or its predecessors for a minimum of 3 consecutive years;
  • Completed freshman year in an accredited college or university with a minimum of 32 credit hours;
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4-point scale at the time of application; and
  • Have a declared major in a health care field with the intent of pursuing a degree in that field. 

Overview of the Kenneth D. Moburg Administrative Fellow Award

Applications open September 1 - January 15

This monetary award has been established to provide financial assistance to persons who are engaged in graduate study leading to either a Master's or Doctorate Degree in some aspect of Health Care Administration. Mr. Moburg was an administrator at the former Lutheran Hospital in Moline, one of Trinity's predecessor institutions. Award amounts range from $1,000 - $5,000.

Applicant Requirements:  

  • Be an employee or child of an employee of UnityPoint Health – Trinity; 
  • Be accepted and enrolled as a student in an accredited graduate educational program in healthcare or nursing administration;
  • Be able to provide the following documentation:
    • Certification of acceptance and enrollment as a student in an accredited graduate program in Health Care Administration.

Overview of the Trinity Medical Staff Nursing Scholarship

Applications open September 1 - October 31

The Trinity Medical Staff Nursing Scholarship was established through the generosity of members of the Trinity Medical Staff to provide financial assistance to students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing through the Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences, and to create future nursing staff at UnityPoint Health – Trinity. Two scholarships will be awarded; the minimum award is $10,000 per scholarship.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4-point scale at the time of application;
  • Agree to work at UnityPoint Health – Trinity for a minimum of 2 years, upon graduation;
  • Preference is given to those students who are first generation college students; and 
  • Preference is given to applicants living within 75 miles of Illinois/Iowa Quad Cities area. 

Please note: An interview with UnityPoint Health - Trinity representatives is required as part of this scholarship and will be held the second week of November.

Overview of the Trinity Medical Staff Radiography & Health Sciences Scholarship

Applications open September 1 - October 31

The Trinity Medical Staff Radiography & Lab Sciences Scholarship was established through the generosity of members of the Trinity Medical Staff to provide financial assistance to students pursuing a degree in either radiography or lab sciences at Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences (please insert link) and to create a highly qualified healthcare staff for UnityPoint Health-Trinity. Two scholarships will be awarded each year; minimum award is $7,500 per scholarship.

Applicant Requirements:  

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4 point scale at the time of application;
  • Agree to work at UnityPoint Health - Trinity for a minimum of 2 years upon graduation;

Not required, but additional consideration will be given to:

  • Students who are first generation college students;
  • Applicants living within 75 miles of the Illinois/Iowa Quad Cities, with the intent to stay in the area upon graduation;

Please note: An interview with UnityPoint Health - Trinity representatives is required as part of this scholarship and will be held the second week of November.

Dr. Prem S. Virdi M.D. Health Sciences and Nursing Scholarship

Applications open September 1 - October 31

Dr. Prem S. Virdi understood the significant importance of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive healthcare workforce and the need to intentionally support such students. The Dr. Prem S. Virdi MD Health Sciences and Nursing Scholarship was created to award scholarships to students pursuing a graduate or undergraduate nursing or health sciences degree from Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences. One scholarship will be awarded annually for $2,500. 

Applicant Criteria:

  • Must be in good academic standing as determined by Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences.
  • Additional consideration given to: 
  • First-year students and/or students who received the scholarship their first year and are reapplying.
  • Students with diverse backgrounds. Examples include: members of a community underrepresented in the field of health and health sciences, socially and/or economically disadvantaged, person of color, member of the LGBTQ+ community, have a disability, etc. 
  • Non-traditional students.
  • Applicants living in the Illinois/Iowa Quad Cities area which is defined as 75 miles from 2701 17th St. Rock Island, IL 61201.

UnityPoint Health - Trinity Equitable and Inclusive Healthcare Scholarship

Applications open September 1 - October 31

UnityPoint Health - Trinity acknowledges the importance and benefit of having a diverse workforce and the need to support such students. The UnityPoint Health - Trinity DEI Scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing an undergraduate nursing or health sciences degree from Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences and is intended for populations that are underrepresented in the field of health care. One $2,500 scholarship will be awarded annually. 

Application Criteria: 

  • Must be pursing an undergraduate degree at Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences. 
  • Must be in good academic standing as determined by Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences.
  • Additional consideration will be given to: 
  • First-year students and/or students who received the scholarship their first year and are reapplying.
  • Students with diverse backgrounds. Examples include: members of a community underrepresented in the field of health and health sciences, socially and/or economically disadvantaged, person of color, member of the LGBTQ+ community, have a disability, etc.

    Overview of the CVM-Illinois Youth Mentoring Health Scholarship

    Applications open September 1 - February 28

    The Cardiovascular Medicine-Illinois Youth Mentoring Health Scholarship is for Quad City area high school seniors and/or undergraduate students who plan to pursue or are enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study in math, science or the medical sciences from an accredited college or university. Up to five scholarships of $1,000 - $2,500 each shall be awarded annually.

    Applicant Requirements:

    • Be 25 years old or younger;
    • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or more on a 4-point scale at the time of application;
    • Be a high school senior who plans to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study in math, science, or the medical sciences at an accredited college or university or;
    • Be an undergraduate student enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study in math, science, or the medical sciences at an accredited college of university;
    • May NOT be the child of a practicing medical doctor; and
    • Must live within 75 miles of Illinois/Iowa Quad Cities area
