Blanco Brown’s ‘The Git Up’ Hits No. 1 on Hot Country Songs Chart
The song completes the quickest coronation since Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road."
Blanco Brown’s breakthrough hit “The Git Up” jumps 4-1 in its fifth week on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart (dated July 13).
The track simultaneously leads the Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales for a second week each, with 21.6 million U.S. streams (up 19%) and 34,000 sold (up 39%), according to Nielsen Music.
It also increases by 9% to 786,000 country radio audience impressions, as it ranks just below the Country Airplay chart (while sporting 3 million in all-genre radio reach, up 55%, thanks, too, to pop play).
“The Git Up” has been aided by a viral dance challenge on TikTok and YouTube, with Brown himself having posted a tutorial in May. The 34-year-old Atlanta native previously produced songs for pop/hip-hop acts including Chris Brown, Fergie and Pitbull.

Brown wrote and produced “The Git Up” himself. “When I got done [writing it] and danced through the whole thing, I was like, ‘Man, I gotta get in shape!'” he recently told Billboard. “This is a great workout song. I think I done dropped five pounds already.”
More seriously, he added, “‘The Git Up’ is dedicated to my grandmother telling us every morning, ‘Get up. Go do something productive in the world.’ It’s about messages [in] my music; bigger than anything is chasing your purpose in life.”
Notably, “The Git Up” completes the quickest trip to the Hot Country Songs summit since Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” pushed 2-1 in its second week on the Feb. 25, 2017-dated tally; the latter proceeded to rule for 34 weeks.
On the all-genre, multi-metric Billboard Hot 100, “The Git Up” soars 29-16 for a new peak.
DAN + SHAY + ‘MYSELF’ Dan + Shay notch their seventh Hot Country Songs top 10 as “All to Myself” rises 11-9. The track reaches the upper tier with 6.8 million streams (up 13%) and 5,000 sold (up 28%). On Country Airplay, it hops 8-7, up 15% to 27.7 million impressions.
‘ROSES’ BLOOM Plus, Runaway June‘s first LP, Blue Roses, debuts at No. 36 on Top Country Albums with 5,000 equivalent album units. With 3,000 in traditional album sales, it starts at No. 5 on Country Album Sales. The trio’s set includes the single “Buy My Own Drinks”; at No. 15 on Country Airplay, it’s the first top 20 hit for an all-female country group since 2005.
