This partnership helps solidify the state of Utah and the Southern Utah community as a leading aviation training ground.

SUU students who join these pathway programs will be eligible for a variety of benefits and financial assistance from SkyWest as they work to complete their professional programs. They will also be eligible to receive a guaranteed interview to join SkyWest's team of aviation professionals.

“SUU Aviation is excited to form a public/private partnership with one of the largest employers in Southern Utah. We believe current and future students will benefit from this relationship with SkyWest as we prepare pilots and Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanics to alleviate the labor shortage in these critical careers” said David Dyches, SUU Aviation’s deputy executive director.

“As a Southern Utah company we are thrilled to partner with SUU to provide a clear path for their students to get started in the aviation industry,” said Kari Tate, SkyWest’s Managing Director People. “SUU does a great job training students to become pilots and A&P mechanics and we look forward to welcoming even more of them to SkyWest in the future.”

SkyWest Pilot Pathway Program

The SkyWest Pilot Pathway Program is designed to help meet the growing demand for pilots in Utah and across the aviation industry. Those who join the pathway are eligible to receive tuition reimbursement of up to $15,000 from SkyWest as they achieve certain program milestones. This helps ensure the pilot training is more accessible to a wider group of students. Through the program, student pilots will also enjoy mentorship from SkyWest pilots, enhanced company seniority, and are guaranteed to receive an interview to become a SkyWest first officer.

SkyWest AMT Pathway Program

Students who join the SkyWest AMT Pathway Program qualify for elite access to SkyWest benefits, such as mentoring by experienced mechanics, enhanced company seniority, up to $4,500 in education assistance earned at credit hour benchmarks, and a final job interview to become an A&P mechanic at one of SkyWest’s maintenance locations. Plus qualified students can also receive up to $1,000 per semester for up to four semesters in scholarships from SUU. This program will help solidify SUU as a top choice for aviation maintenance students in the Western United States.

SkyWest Airlines is the largest regional airline in the world and is committed to working with local communities to grow the future of aviation.
