Stockton Roars Past Lions in Fourth Quarter

Ewing, N.J. – Stockton University (9-11, 7-7 NJAC) rallied by outscoring The College of New Jersey (9-10, 6-6 NJAC) 20-8 in the fourth quarter for a 44-37 victory on the road. The Ospreys shot 6-11 (54.6%) from the floor and 8-10 (80%) at the line in the final period.
 
Freshman Madison LaRosa (Oceanport/Shore Regional) led Stockton with a game-high 16 points. LaRosa went a perfect 6-6 at the line, all in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Emma Morrone (Maywood/Hackensack) contributed 13 points and a game-high nine steals.
 
LaRosa and Morrone combined for 29 of their team's 44 points. Freshman Jaiden Harris (Lindenwold/OLMA) tied her career high with 10 rebounds to lead all players and scored seven markers.
 
Freshman Sanaa Parks (Westampton/Rancocas Valley) with five points and Nalya Hill (Bloomfield/DePaul Catholic) with three were the only other Stockton players to score. The Ospreys converted 25 TCNJ turnovers into 19 points off turnovers.
 
Stockton both trailed by three and led by four during a first quarter that ended with the Ospreys holding a slim 11-9 edge. After baskets by Harris and Morrone gave the visitors a 15-9 lead in the second quarter, TCNJ used a 13-1 run to take a 22-16 to the locker room at halftime.
 
Stockton made up one point on its deficit during an 8-7 third quarter, and they entered the fourth stanza down 29-24. The Ospreys caught fire in the last period, led by Morrone who scored 11 of her 13 points on 5-7 (71.4%) field goal shooting. LaRosa was 6-6 at the stripe as well.
 
The Ospreys trailed 33-26 with 8:21 to play but reeled off 15 straight points while TCNJ went scoreless until the final minute. Morrone led the charge with seven points. Stockton was ahead 41-33 before the Lions finally scored again with 33 seconds to play.
 
Two free throws by LaRosa and one by Harris clinched the 44-37 triumph. TCNJ shot just 2-12 (16.7%) from the floor including 0-7 from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter.
 
Julia Setaro was the lone Lions player in double figures with 15 points. No other TCNJ player scored more than six.
 
Stockton will play its next two games at home, starting with a matchup against William Paterson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
