Stockton Pulls Out 2-0 Win Over Neumann

Galloway, NJ –Stockton University (5-1-1) extended their unbeaten streak to five straight matches, with a hard fought 2-0 victory over Neumann University (2-3-0) on Wednesday night. Freshman Aiden Hoenisch (Bordentown/Notre Dame) and Sean O'Leary (Bordentown/Bordentown) tallied the goals for the Ospreys.

The home squad dominated play in the first half, controlling the ball and pace of play, keeping the Knights bottled up in their own end. Stockton broke through at 29:42 when a handball was called in the Neumann box, giving the Ospreys a penalty kick. Hoenisch fired his second goal of the season into the top right corner for a 1-0 lead.

The Ospreys outshot the Knights 10-2 during the first 45 minutes but came away with just the one marker.

The second stanza was all Neumann as they flipped the script and pushed the play into the Stockton end of the pitch. The home defense was up to the task keeping the visitors off the board after some tense play on both sides.

With just 2:16 remaining in the game, Stockton was able to pressure the Knights. Hoenisch blasted a shot that was blocked, but O'Leary pounced on the loose ball and hit the top left corner for his first of the season and a crucial insurance tally. Stockton was able to finish out the last moments to secure the 2-0 victory.

Goalkeeper Liam Brett (Palmyra/Palmyra) made three saves in earning his fifth win of the season and posted his fourth shutout of the year.

Seth Walker also made three saves in net for the Knights.

The Ospreys will begin the first match of a three-game road swing, as Stockton will travel to Hackettstown, NJ for their next contest against Centenary College on Sunday. Game time is set for 1 pm.
