Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

29 May 2020: In a message from ACM SIGGRAPH President Jessica Hodgins, preliminary details were shared about the upcoming virtual SIGGRAPH 2020 conference including a likely shift in conference timing to mid- or late-August. Click here to read her letter. Further, given the move to virtual, our primary focus is now on bringing our community the best virtual conference experience possible. For future announcements and information about the virtual SIGGRAPH 2020 conference, visit the main SIGGRAPH 2020 conference page.

24 April 2020: Concerns about the health and safety of conference participants as well as recent news that the Walter E. Washington Convention Center has been designated a future alternate care site during the COVID-19 pandemic make it impossible to host SIGGRAPH 2020 in Washington, D.C. as planned. With this development, we have decided to move to a virtual conference format.

Our conference theme, Think Beyond, will take on new meaning as we move to a virtual footprint. In collaboration with our hundreds of contributors, we look forward to letting our outstanding content shine in our new digital venue. We are confident that we will deliver a strong SIGGRAPH 2020 that celebrates this year’s advancements and achievements in computer graphics and interactive techniques. Additionally, we are optimistic that this new format will allow more of our global community to come together and participate.

As details of this experience become clear, our SIGGRAPH community will be the first to hear.

20 April 2020: The District of Columbia Mayor Muriel E. Bowser announced Friday, 17 April that the Walter E. Washington Convention Center has been designated a future alternate care site in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are working closely with the convention center staff to understand the details of this designation and how it will impact SIGGRAPH 2020. More updates will come soon – please check back here for additional information.

14 April 2020: Read a message from ACM SIGGRAPH President Jessica Hodgins on the ACM SIGGRAPH Blog.

8 April 2020: SIGGRAPH 2020 progress continues with 124 papers conditionally accepted to the Technical Papers program, 14 papers accepted to the Art Papers program, and 13 artworks accepted to the Art Gallery program. While many things are uncertain at this time, what remains certain is the high quality of the work accepted to SIGGRAPH. We are excited to share it with the community and ensure it is recognized! Accepted work for the Technical Papers program will be published in the ACM Digital Library as in years past. Likewise, accepted work for the Art Papers and Art Gallery programs will be published in Leonardo, The Journal of the International Society of the Arts, Sciences and Technology, and also the Art Papers and Art Gallery abstracts will be included in the ACM Digital Library. No matter the format, SIGGRAPH 2020 will take place and our accepted contributors will have the opportunity to present their work.

31 March 2020: Given the timing of SIGGRAPH 2020, we remain hopeful that the conference will take place as planned. That said, we are cognizant that the COVID-19 pandemic presents some future uncertainties and we do not want to minimize that concern. The safety and well-being of all conference participants remains our top priority. Our leadership is actively monitoring updates from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If need be, SIGGRAPH will evolve formatting as necessary in order to continue to provide an exciting, informative, and inspirational conference experience.

We urge all participants to keep informed on risks, precautions, and symptoms in order to make informed decisions regarding travel.
