BALTIMORE - Coppin State mourns the loss of former men's basketball standout Larry Yarbray, who died on Saturday in Delaware at the age of 51.

A native of Chester, Pa., Yarbray earned All-MEAC honors and was the starting point guard on the Eagles' first-ever NCAA Tournament Team in 1990.  Yarbray's 622 career assists are a school-record, and he held the MEAC record in the category for nearly three decades.  Yarbray's 194 steals also rank fourth in school-history. Coppin, under the leadership of legendary head coach Ron 'Fang' Mitchell, went 78-42 during his career which spanned from 1988 to 1992.

For the last five seasons, Yarbray served as the head basketball coach at Delaware County Community College in Media, Pa.  Prior to that, Yarbray was the head coach at Chester High School where he compiled a 214-53 record in nine seasons, guiding the Clippers to back-to-back PIAA Class 4A Titles.

Yarbray coached the only undefeated team in program-history when Chester went 32-0 during the 2011-12 season and was subsequently named Daily Sports Figure of the Year. The Clippers went 63-1 during those State Championship runs which included a 60-game winning streak.
