2022-2023: The Year of the Ginkgo
The Birmingham-Southern College ginkgo trees were planted between Munger Hall and the Stockham Building in 1957 in memory of Frances Sensabaugh Real ’55. In the 65 years since, the trees have grown into campus icons.
Throughout The Year of the Ginkgo, BSC will honor what the ginkgo symbolizes, both worldwide and on the Hilltop, and celebrate the alumni, students, faculty, and staff who grow and thrive here — in purpose, connection, resilience, caring, creativity, leadership, tenacity, and confidence.
We want to hear from you.
Tell us about alumni, faculty, staff, or students who embody each of the words of the year.
Who in your BSC circle exemplifies purpose?
Who has shown tenacity or resilience in the face of challenge or has excelled as a leader?
Who keeps you connected to the Hilltop, or demonstrates creativity or confidence?
Who is living a life that shows caring for others?
Throughout 2022-2023, we’ll share stories on The BSC Blog and in the next issue of 'Southern magazine. Email us at [email protected] or give us a call at (205) 226-4912.
As we kick off the Year of the Ginkgo, we are incredibly grateful for the creativity of Birmingham artist Don Stewart '81, whose “ginkgo panther” design will grace new lightpole banners, welcome signs, and more during the Year of the Ginkgo. See more of his remarkable work and shop for a print of the ginkgo panther at dsart.com.
