Biography

Josh Ingersoll is a Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs for Astranis Space Technologies Corporation. His work straddles the line between technical design and space regulatory policy for Astranis’s fleet of MicroGEO spacecraft with orbital debris mitigation, radiofrequency interference, and earth station licensing being his three main topics of focus. He previously worked as a Manager of Constellation Policy for Amazon's Project Kuiper and a Spacecraft Systems Engineer at The Aerospace Corporation.

Beyond his day job, Josh holds a political advisory position with the UN; serving as the representative for the Americas on the International Telecommunications Union Secretary General’s Youth Advisory Board. Josh collaborates with experts in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Policy to advice UN leadership on connectivity issues facing humanity on a global scale. His focus is on the applications of space assets to bridge the digital divide and bring the final 2.9 billion members of humanity into the internet age.

During his time at Georgia Tech, Josh took part in the BS/MS Honors Program; receiving his Bachelor's of Science in aerospace engineering in 2018 and his subsequent Master's of Science in aerospace engineering in 2019. He also holds an MA in Space Policy and an MBA in STEM Management from The George Washington University. His research focus at GWU was mega-constellation regulation development and the promotion of public-private partnerships in the aerospace industry.

While on campus, Josh was active in the Space Systems Design Lab (SSDL) under both Dr. Gunter and Dr. Lightsey. He took part in the AE Limerick Program in 2016 and interned at GE Aviation, NASA Ames Research Center, and OneWeb Satellites during his time at Georgia Tech. His graduate career at Tech was capped off by the publishing of a paper titled "A Technical Evaluation of Integrating Optical Inter-Satellite Links into Proliferated Polar LEO Constellations" which was an extension of work done for OneWeb Satellites. Josh was also active in the Georgia Tech Glee Club; serving as it’s President from 2016-2018 and gave the Student Reflection Speech during his MS commencement in Fall 2019.

Outside of his professional and academic pursuits, Josh is quite active in the Matthew Isakowitz Fellowship Program; serving on the Fellowship’s Executive Board as its Alumni Chair. The Fellowship places exceptional students into internships and executive mentorships in the commercial space industry. He also moonlights as a volunteer science instructor for his Wife's class at Green Hedges Elementary School in Vienna, VA and sings in his local barbershop chorus on Wednesday nights.
