AE alumna Kathryn Engelhardt (AE 1982, M.S. AE 1983), née Dunlop, has returned to Georgia, steps away from her beloved Georgia Tech, grateful for every leg of her journey. She reflected on her extraordinary experiences, lifelong friendships, and the lessons learned. Georgia Tech equipped her to excel in industry and navigate male-dominated spaces with tenacity and grace. 🐝 : https://lnkd.in/eUNUrEgK #GTaerospace #WHM #womenshistorymonth #aerospace #engineering #georgiatech #GTalumni #GTalumnae #rotorcraft

Georgia Tech is part of a new $6.7 million NASA University Leadership Initiative (ULI) to enhance safety and intelligence in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). Professor Kyriakos G. Vamvoudakis and researchers will investigate the significant knowledge gaps that have slowed down the national airspace’s use of AAM vehicles such as drones and air taxis. They will create smart safety system software that can learn independently. This system will help monitor, manage, and control these vehicles safely and reliably. 🚁: https://bit.ly/4iRhVol #GTaerospace #georgiatech #aerospace #engineering #urbanairmobility #aam #advancedairmobility #airtaxi #dronetechnology #systemintelligence NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration

The AE School is honored to highlight the nine AE alumnae who are in the inaugural class of the @GeorgiaTech Pathway of Progress installation, now open on the Atlanta campus. Congratulations - Laurie Baker, Elizabeth Córdoba, Tiffany Davis, Yvonne Donaldson Pendleton, Lara Hodgson, Kavya K. Manyapu Ph.D., Jenny Moore, Anne Patterson, and Mary Wright. These pioneering women exemplify what hard work, determination and good old-fashioned grit can do. While they all followed their own path, one thing rings true for all of them, they are mavericks who boldly made their mark on Georgia Tech and the world. 🫶: https://lnkd.in/eQp9R7s8 #GTaerospace #GeorgiaTech #pathwayofprogress #womeninstem #engineering #aerospace #research #womenshistorymonth #WHM

Great visit with Triple Jacket Chris Nelson (AE 1988, MSAE 1989, PhD 1997), Global Simcenter STAR-CCM+ Applications Specialist for Aerospace and Defense at Siemens Digital Industries Software. With deep expertise in computational fluid dynamics, he’s made significant contributions to the development of advanced simulation software. At Siemens, Chris applies his vast experience in aerospace engineering to support the aerospace and defense industries, helping companies leverage software to optimize and innovate their designs. His role as an applications specialist is key in ensuring aerospace companies have the best tools available. A recent milestone in Chris's career was co-authoring a paper with Professor Sankar at the 2025 AIAA SciTech A—a proud moment that reflects his ongoing commitment to research and collaboration. Chris continues to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world applications, shaping the future of aerospace and defense technology. Looking forward to seeing all that Chris will accomplish next! 🌟: https://www.ae.gatech.edu/ #Aerospace #Defense #CFD #AIAA #SciTech2025 #Innovation #Siemens #STARCCM #AerospaceEngineering #Research

Had a fantastic time catching up with Bruce Hogarth, AE 1982, in Seattle. Bruce recently retired from Macquarie Air Finance, and our conversation was a powerful reminder of how Georgia Tech continues to shape successful careers. Bruce shared how his passion for aerospace led him to Georgia Tech, just a short flight away from his home in Brazil. He fondly recalled his time in the aerospace program and credited it with laying the foundation for his career, especially the aircraft design course. He also spoke highly of Professor Horton, whose influence left a lasting impact on his journey and further fueled his love for the field. After graduating during a challenging job market, Bruce dove into the aviation industry with ultralights in Texas before being recruited by Boeing, where his trilingual skills in English, Portuguese, and Spanish made him the perfect fit for leading their South American marketing efforts. His career then evolved from technical roles to relationship management, further showcasing his versatility. It’s always inspiring to reconnect with our AE alumni who continue to thrive and make a positive impact. Wishing Bruce all the best as he embarks on his next exciting adventure! ✈️ : ae.gatech.edu/give #Aviation #GeorgiaTech #AEAlumni #Aerospace #Boeing #ProfessorHorton #CareerJourney #Leadership #YellowJackets #Retirement #Seattle

New algorithms developed at Georgia Tech are headed to the Moon today as part of Intuitive Machines’ IM-2 mission. Ava Thrasher, a research engineer in the Space Exploration and Analysis Laboratory (SEAL) and Professor John Christian, collaborated with Intuitive Machines to develop algorithms to guide its lunar lander Athena to the Shackleton crater: a region known for its limited sunlight and cold temperatures. The algorithms work together to detect and identify craters to help navigate the lander to the Moon's surface. 🌕: https://lnkd.in/eBMgScHY 🚀: liftoff target window opens at 7:17 p.m. EST, 2/26 📸: Intuitive Machines #GTaerospace #IM2 #AdLunam #GeorgiaTech #algorithm #SpaceX #NASA

From cutting-edge research to advanced manufacturing, the sky's (NOT) the limit for #Georgia's aerospace and defense capabilities, and Georgia Tech is at the helm of #aerospace education and innovation. “Companies come to me and say what problems they’re facing, usually in an exploratory nature,” Dr. Dimitri Mavris said. “They cannot find people to work on these things… so we give the students the project as part of their coursework.” Read more: https://bit.ly/4iebOKv via Atlanta Journal-Constitution ✈️ #GTaerospace #economy #aerospace #innovation #defense #aerospace #manufacturing #atlanta #georgia
