Agriculture - As enacted, clarifies that "vacant public land" for purposes of the Tennessee Community Gardening Act includes property controlled by a parks and recreation department or similar entity that is not currently being used as park land. - Amends TCA Title 43, Chapter 24.

    Bill Summary

    Under present law, the Tennessee Community Gardening Act authorizes local governments to allow the use of vacant public land for community gardening. Present law defines "vacant public land” as any land owned by a local government that is not in use for public purposes. This bill adds that "vacant public land" includes, for purposes of the Act, property controlled by a parks and recreation department or similar entity that is not currently being used as park land.
