Aston, PA – Stockton University (3-4) got back into the win column with a tight 1-0 victory over Neumann University (2-4) on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman
Joseph Carbone (Pequannock/Pequannock) scored the lone tally in the game for the Ospreys.
Â
Stockton dominated play for much of the contest but came away with a scoreless draw in the first half. The Ospreys had five shots and four corner kicks but could not find the net in the first 45 minutes of play.
Â
The Ospreys finally broke through at the 57:59 mark, when Carbone took a pass from
Brendan Deal (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) for his team-leading fourth marker of the year and a 1-0 margin. The defense would make that eventual game-winning goal hold up, as the home team could only get one shot off to Stockton's seven during the second half.
Â
Dino Gromitsaris (Bordentown/Bordentown) faced just four shots, with one save, in recording his 11th career shutout in net. Seth Walker kicked out for shots for Neumann.
Â
Stockton will return home for their next match, as John Jay will visit Galloway on Saturday afternoon. Game time is set for 3 pm.
