Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University opened the 2021-22 season with a 469-470 victory by the slimmest of margins, one stroke, in a dual match against New Jersey City University. The match was the first in the program's brief history in which Stockton had the requisite four golfers to record a team score.
Freshman
Ella van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI), one of three Ospreys playing their first college match, led Stockton with a team-best 105. Fellow newcomer
Maggie Brennan (Spring Lake Heights/Manasquan) shot a 113 in her college debut.
Brynn Bowman, the lone player of the quartet with college experience, also shot a 113. Freshman
Serena Su (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) rounded out Stockton's group of four with a 138 in her first college match.
Destiny Duhaney led NJCU with a 96 that was the low round of the match. Gwendolyne Lopez shot a 113 followed by Elizabeth Bello at 126 and Roxana Martinez at 135.
Stockton will compete next in the Ursinus Fall Invitational at Ravns Claw GC on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
