Information Technology Services Spring Update
Coming Fall 2021: IT Support Site Makeover
ITS is working on a redesign of our support site website based on the results of a campus-wide survey distributed in Fall 2020 (see our survey results here). The new layout will be more intuitive and will make it easier to find information and/or the best form for your support needs.
Knowmia Replacement Update
We are currently evaluating two solutions as Knowmia replacements - Panopto and Yuja - and hope to arrive at a decision by the end of May. We are still targeting a two-phase migration that would occur during the Fall 2021 semester. This would allow faculty to continue using Knowmia in the fall semester while the transition to the new system is in process; in this timeline, Knowmia service would terminate at the end of the Fall 2021 semester.
Sentinel One Endpoint Protection Rollout Update
As previous notifications have already mentioned, we are in the process of replacing our current Symantec endpoint protection software with the Sentinel One product. We have completed 75% of the project at present and will finalize the transition this summer, at which time the Symantec software will be removed from computers.
Managed Print Initiative
SUNY New Paltz is part of a SUNY-wide managed print initiative that will save SUNY $50,000,000 annually. Following a request for proposal, SUNY awarded Toshiba a contract that will allow them to manage print services across all campuses and will eventually eliminate all personal printers. The project will be implemented in stages, beginning this summer with a review of printer quantities and locations, as well as an assessment of usage, current contracts on existing equipment, and budgetary impacts. As we have more details, we will keep the campus apprised of next steps.
E-signature Update
We recently executed an agreement for the use of Adobe Sign, an e-signature solution. We will be working with departments to review their current paper based processes with the intention of reviewing, revising, and digitizing these processes wherever possible.
