All SUNY students are invited to apply to the 2021 COIL Commons Summer Program, a global learning experience that runs from July 5 – Aug. 13 and focuses on storytelling and sustainability.

This six-credit program is divided into two components:
1. Intercultural Storytelling: Storytelling is a powerful tool of communication, but many organizations struggle to use storytelling to enhance the way the communicate about their work and the issues about which they are passionate. This module will help students explore ways of using stories to inform, entertain, educate, inspire, and create connections to influence change.
2. United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals: Problems such as climate change, inequality, and elimination of poverty require immediate attention and action if we want a better future. Students will choose one of six of the Sustainable Development Goals to align their work with that of the people and organizations who are combating these global problems every day.
SUNY’s Collaborative International Online Learning (COIL) program delivers global learning experiences virtually. All course work can be completed remotely, anywhere you can access the internet and Blackboard.
This is a six-credit program that can be applied to General Education and some major degree programs, depending on the area of focus students choose. The program cost is equivalent to six credits of tuition.
