That's Right!

You Chose "C" 57 – That's Incorrect!

In the first 10 seasons of Murphy Brown, the title character had 93 different secretaries.

One of the running jokes on the series — which featured the personal and professional misadventures of an opinionated but beloved television journalist — was Murphy Brown's inability to find a good secretary or one who could successfully work with her. The 93 secretaries were referred to by number in the closing credits cast list, as Secretary #1, Secretary #2, and so on.

One secretary on Murphy Brown that was very efficient was Carol Kester, a character from The Bob Newhart Show played by Marcia Wallace. At the end of that episode, Dr. Robert Hartley (Bob Newhart) showed up and pleaded for her to return, which she did. In another episode, Murphy Brown discovered there was a support group for her former secretaries, where they comforted each other over their inability to keep the job.

In addition to Candice Bergen as Murphy Brown, the cast included Faith Ford as Corky Sherwood, Joe Regalbuto as Frank Fontana, Charles Kimbrough as Jim Dial, and Grant Shaud as Miles Silverberg.

Murphy Brown premiered in 1988 and ran for 11 consecutive seasons, winning many Primetime Emmy Awards and Golden Globes. It was reprised for one more season in 2018.
