The California Community College Athletic Association has approved a Contingency Plan on Thursday to move all fall sports, including football, to the spring season.

The board says the plan was among three potential scenarios approved in June. They also add, the return of sports in January will only happen if it is safe to do so, a decision that will be guided primarily by state and local health guidelines.

The original plan had men’s and women’s cross country, and women’s golf competing in the fall, but those will also be moved to the spring season.

All sports will also have a 30% reduction in the number of games that is currently allowed. Formats for the postseason will be announced at a later date. They also say they will not have state championships in 2020-21.

This decision does apply to Bakersfield College and Taft College as they are both part of the CCCAA.

The Board of Directors will still meet on July 17 to address issues related to this decision as well as other scheduled agenda items.
