In a statement issued Monday morning, Governor Bill Lee said in-person learning is “the only way” Tennessee’s students will get back on track and virtual learning should be reserved for emergency use.

“In-person learning is safe and it’s the only way our students will get back on track after significant learning loss,” Governor Lee said.

The Republican Governor also issued his support to the Tennessee Department of Education.

“I support the State Board of Education’s work to ensure that in-person learning is again the standard in Tennessee and virtual learning is reserved for emergency use only,” Lee continued.

Governor Lee is slated to make an education announcement Monday afternoon at the Tennessee State Capitol. FOX 17 News will stream the announcement at 3 p.m. WATCH by clicking here.
