Glassboro, N.J. – Stockton University (6-2, 4-0 NJAC) shot 48.3 percent from three-point range (14-29) and led from start to finish in a 93-72 victory over Rowan University (3-4, 1-3) that was the fourth straight win for the Ospreys. Five Stockton players scored in double figures.
Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) shot a blistering 9-12 (75%) from the field and poured in a career-high 22 points. Flanders was 4-6 from beyond the arc.
Jordan Taylor (East Orange/Cicely Tyson) chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds and a career-high seven assists.
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) netted 13 points, dealt a career-high four assists and tied his career best with eight rebounds.
Tariq Baker (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Anthony's) shot 3-4 from three-point land and finished with 11 points.
Freshman
Jordan Williams (Trenton/Trenton Central) hit double figures for the first time with a career-high 10 markers. Williams also equaled his college best with seven rebounds as Stockton held a sizeable 56-39 advantage on the glass.
Luciano Lubrano (Ocean City/Ocean City) scored Stockton's first four points and Flanders followed with a three-pointer to get the Ospreys off and running with a 7-1 lead in the first 95 seconds. Campbell later scored seven points during a 10-2 run that put Stockton ahead 34-22.
When Flanders made a layup at the first-half buzzer, the Ospreys went to the locker room with a 48-34 lead. Campbell topped all players with 12 points in the period, followed by Flanders with 11 markers. Stockton shot 50 percent from the floor overall, including 7-14 (50%) from three-point range in the half.
The margin reached 18 points, 52-34, on two free throws by
Othniel Nyamekye (Irvington/Irvington) early in the second half but Rowan answered with a 12-2 spurt to pull within eight at 54-46. Leading 62-55 with 12:41 remaining, Stockton seized control with 11 unanswered points. Taylor led the charge with two three-pointers.
The outburst resulted in an insurmountable 73-55 advantage with 10:43 to play. The lead ballooned to 25 points at 88-63 on layup by Taylor with 2:36 left and the Ospreys remained unbeaten in NJAC play with their fourth straight win, 93-72.
Stockton will try to extend its winning streak to five when the Ospreys host William Paterson in a conference game on Saturday at 3 p.m.
