Thank you for your interest in being a Grit Guide for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation! Please complete the following application. You will need to complete a couple of short answer questions, as well as provide the names and contact information for two UMBC references. Applications must be submitted by 11:59pm on December 11th to be considered.

The second part of the application is a video submission. You may choose one of four prompts. The prompts are within the application. Please film a video and follow the link below to submit your video. Applications are not complete without the video. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Videos uploaded later than 11:59pm on December 11th may not be accepted.

Those selected to interview will complete the interview process that will take place in January. We hope to complete all interviews by mid to late January.

Descriptions of the Grit Guide positions can be found in the application. Please note that these positions are open to undergraduate students only. We hope to train those who are selected in the spring, and start the majority of the position in the fall. All trainings will be paid.  
Our Grit Guides are valuable to the success of our office both in person and virtually. Although remote this semester, our students have been able to complete many tasks to support our recruitment efforts. In the event that we remain virtual for future semesters, training and work may be remote. This past semester, we have held remote training with our student staff and have frequent virtual meetings for professional development and office updates. We have been able to show visitors our campus through virtual information sessions, virtual campus highlight tours and virtual open house programs. Future virtual opportunities could include messaging and chatting with prospective students, giving virtual picture tours of campus, participating on panels, assisting admissions counselors with virtual recruitment events, and administrative tasks that support the application process.
