Application Open for Leadership Workshop – Action and Values, presented by the William P. Lauder Junior Internship Program this Summer

USC Shoah Foundation is now accepting applications for rising 8th–12th grade students across the country to participate in its highly competitive week-long summer program, Leadership Workshop – Action and Values.

The program, which runs July 10 – July 15, 2022, provides a dynamic and unique learning opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds and with broad academic skills to engage with testimonies – personal stories – from survivors and witnesses of genocide. Participants will be challenged to deeply consider what it means to be a responsible participant in civil society and will develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to create positive change in their own lives and in their communities.

Some 350 students have participated in the program since its inception in 2014.

Safia Bethune, an 11th grader from Rancho Palos Verdes, California who participated in last year’s internship program, described how it taught her to use and make her voice heard.

“It is easy to feel as though one cannot do anything to change the injustices that they see occurring in the world, but my time participating in the program has allowed me to gain so much confidence in the value of my voice and has opened up so many doors and new opportunities for me,” she said.

The upcoming summer workshop is a week-long residential program at the University of Southern California. On a typical day, participants will attend Leadership Workshop - Action and Values sessions and will then engage in community building opportunities with fellow participants in the late afternoons and evenings.

We encourage all students who live in the United States and are entering grades 8-12 in the 2022 - 2023 school year to apply.

The deadline for applications is April 25, 2022 at 5pm PT.
