Match Day is the culmination of years of hard work. On this day, these medical students learn where they'll spend the next three to seven years of their careers in specialty training programs.
Friends and family joined the 176 Tulane students who matched for a day of celebration.
Many of these students began medical school in 2019. Through the pandemic and Hurricane Ida, they persevered.
Match Day is a nationwide event and medical students across the country all learn where they matched at the same time.
The room is filled with excitement and some anxiety in the minutes leading up to when students can open their envelopes.
Then the moment they've been waiting for arrives.
27 students matched in Louisiana for all or part of their training. 16 of those students are staying at Tulane.
