DURHAM – Coming off a solid opening weekend of fall action, the Duke women's tennis team will return to the court this week as the Blue Devils compete in the USTA Fall Ranked Spotlight in Raleigh, N.C., and Cary, N.C., along with the 49er Invite in Charlotte, N.C.
Duke will feature four Blue Devils in the Fall Ranked Spotlight that will be played at the Cary Tennis Park along with at N.C. State. Doubles action opens play Thursday at 5 p.m., followed by singles on Friday and Saturday. The event will close on Sunday with both doubles and singles play.
In doubles,
Karolina Berankova and
Elle Christensen open action Thursday at 5 p.m., at NC State against Oklahoma's Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina.
Emma Jackson and
Ellie Coleman will also face Arizona State's Giulia Mortlet and Emilija Tverijonaite at 5:45 p.m.
Singles action opens on Friday with 36th-ranked Jackson taking on 27th-ranked Sydni Ratliff of Ohio State at 9 a.m. Other matches include Coleman facing 104th-ranked DJ Bennett of Auburn, Berankova vs. Luciana Perry of Ohio State and Christensen against 94th-ranked Daria Smetannikov of Texas A&M. Following the first singles match, everyone will play a second match at 2 p.m., or 4 p.m., depending on the outcome.
Duke's graduate students
Brianna Shvets and
Iuliia Bryzgalova are set to hit the courts Saturday and Sunday in Charlotte at the 49er Invite. The matches will be contested at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.
