You are invited to attend the 61st annual Potlatch event celebrating and sampling the delicacies from the State of Washington for those living in the Washington DC area. Kieta Mall Skoglund '89 will be your Whitman table host. Whitman is participating for the twenty-first year in this event.

What is Potlatch?
Potlatch is a word that comes from the Chinook dialect meaning 'to give.' A Potlatch was an important social event among Northwest tribes that marked the status of an individual or celebrated a special occasion such as a marriage. These celebrations could take as long as a year or more to prepare and sometimes lasted up to ten days. Food and entertainment were provided and gifts were given to the guests that attended.
The Washington State Society is a congressionally-authorized not-for-profit organization run by volunteers that brings together over 700 congressional, executive, military, corporate, and other Washingtonians who reside in the Washington DC area.
