Syllabus resources for Fall 2026 are now available. The Your Syllabus at UT Austin page includes helpful templates, access to the Simple Syllabus tool and listings of all required syllabus content.
NEW REQUIREMENTS There are two new required statements for Fall 2026 syllabi:
Classroom Recording Statement
Students must be informed that course recording is not permitted without faculty permission. Faculty are required to include the following statement on their syllabi to fulfill this requirement: HOP 2-9970 prohibits students from recording class instruction (audio or video) unless a student obtains the instructor’s permission or Disability & Access has approved audio recording as an accommodation.
AI Policy Statement
Faculty have discretion to determine how generative AI tools are used in their courses. To ensure students are informed of their instructor’s policy, faculty must include a Course AI Policy Statement that clearly indicates if generative AI is permitted, partially permitted or prohibited. Details on this requirement, including the required syllabus language, are available on the Your Syllabus at UT Austin page under the "Course Artificial Intelligence Policy."
Questions about syllabus requirements may be submitted to Faculty Affairs at facultyaffairs@utexas.edu.
