Anna Vogelzang’s new album is set for release on May 6th via Paper Anchor Music. Vogelzang, a Wisconsin native, has been winning fans through her warm, engaging folk-pop since she first became a touring artist in 2007. Todd Sickafoose (Ani DiFranco, Andrew Bird, Anais Mitchell) produced Hiker, drawing from over 70 songs that Vogelzang had written over the preceding 15 months.  Today we premiere “Bear” from the forthcoming record. Vogelzang tells Relix, “Bear is a song about the sides of ourselves we don’t always want to see – jealousy, darkness, fear, and frustration; it’s about wrestling the wild animal within, the thing we can’t silence, the thing we all struggle with. It’s also a song about about vanquishing the beast and moving forward: finding tools to deal with the rougher days, becoming the person we want to be; it’s about finding the things that separate us from our destructive animal selves.” Hiker is now available for pre-order.
