Climate Crisis Relief Fund

We invite you to support the Climate Crisis Relief Fund.

Over the past year, California has experienced a higher-than-usual number of fires. With above-normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation, there has been an elevated fire risk – compounded by high winds. Currently, Southern California wildfires are on a rampage that has scorched over 26,000 acres, destroyed more than 1,000 structures, and displaced thousands of residents. Tragically, these fires have also taken lives and caused significant environmental damage.

These wildfires have directly impacted several of California's state parks, which are vital sanctuaries for wildlife, cultural heritage, and recreation.

Among the devastation is Will Rogers' historic ranch house and other historic buildings at Will Rogers State Historic Park destroyed; Topanga Ranch Motel and all concessions destroyed; State Park employee residences destroyed; more than 30 structural losses at Topanga State Park and Will Rogers State Historic Park.

These fires require your urgent support to help navigate the devastating consequences for state parks.

We invite you to join us in growing our Climate Crisis Relief Fund. This Fund is specifically earmarked for parks that have recently experienced climate impacts from wildfires, winter storms, and other weather-related events. This way, we can quickly activate the Climate Crisis Relief Fund in the aftermath of a catastrophic climate event at a state park – helping park staff to immediately replace lost work equipment, personal belongings, and more. Our goal is to establish a Fund of $100,000 this year to provide a safety net for our beloved parks.

Your contribution makes a big difference in emergency response efforts and long-term relief of the climate crisis and provides immediate assistance to California's beloved state parks.
