Event Description

Join fellow alumni for an Alumni in Media & Communications Industry Network conversation featuring award winning executive producer Mosheh Oinounou (SMPA '04, Elliott School '06), as he discusses content creation in 2020, how he pivoted into digital consulting, and curating his Instagram to be a reliable feed for news.  

Mosheh will be featured in the conversation, which will be moderated by Eugenia Cassidy (SMPA '13), Managing Editor at theSkimm, and member of the GW Alumni in Media & Communications Industry Leadership Council.

The conversation will be followed by a brief Q&A session with the panelists.

 

Panelists

Eugenia.jpegEugenia Cassidy (SMPA '13) is a Managing Editor at theSkimm, overseeing all content development. She joined in 2015 as one of the first employees at the startup, which is now the leading way for female millennials to get their news. During her time at theSkimm, she’s written their daily morning newsletter that reaches more than 7 million people, and has produced and conducted interviews with presidential candidates, heads of state, and other newsmakers. Most recently, she interviewed Vice President-elect Kamala Harris two weeks prior to the election. 

Previously, she was a reporter/producer at Fios1 News, covering local news across the NY region. She came to Fios from CBS News where she was a Broadcast Associate in the control room at CBS This Morning. Prior to CBS, she started her career as a news assistant at NY1 News, covering local news across all five boroughs of New York City. 

Eugenia is a native of Pittsburgh, PA and received her BA in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in Italian from GW.

 

Mosheh.jpgMosheh Oinounou (SMPA '04, Elliott School '06) is an award-winning executive producer who brings a veteran perspective to TV and digital production. He founded the Mo Digital consulting firm in 2019 to provide companies with solutions for video production, content strategy, brand messaging, and digital storytelling.

In 2020, he created the @Mosheh Instagram account devoted to curating verified and balanced news. Mosheh has quickly built a highly engaged following and growing base of paid subscribers. The account has been featured in Variety Magazine and Axios.

Previously, Mosheh was the youngest-ever executive producer of the “CBS Evening News," where he led the global team covering everything from the war on ISIS to natural disasters, mass shootings and politics.

Prior to that, he helped make digital history at CBS News as the launch executive producer of CBSN, the first-of-its-kind 24/7 streaming news network in 2014. Mosheh later oversaw new programming & development for the platform, including as creator and showrunner for the "CBSN: On Assignment," a long form, primetime, news magazine series. He originally joined CBS in 2011 as part of the leadership team that launched "CBS This Morning" where he won an Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Journalism.

He previously was the international editor at Bloomberg Television where he led on-the-ground coverage of the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster, the 2010 Deepwater Horizon spill and several major global economic summits. He is a native of the Chicago area and received his BA in Political Communication and an MA in Security Policy Studies from GW.
